First Care Medical is a wholly South Australian owned company, established in 2004 to provide professional medical support services to events and industry.

Based in Adelaide, South Australia – we have the logistical capacity to provide services nationally.

First Care Medical is led by a dedicated team of Directors, who between them have over 50 years experience in pre-hospital care and event management. They take an active role in the company, and you will see them in the field at a variety of venues and events.

First Care Medical’s aim is to address existing service gaps in the provision and delivery of event medical services.  In doing so, we can deliver the full range of conventional first aid and medical services required to support your events.

A tailored approach may be the best solution to meet your company’s requirements, and First Care Medical is able to customise our services to ensure you get exactly what you want.

First Care Medical is committed to continuous improvement and we review all feedback, suggestions and complaints to ensure that our services continue to meet our client expectations and needs.

First Care Medical takes all complaints seriously and we ensure that any client patient or stakeholder complaints are promptly investigated in a manner which is transparent, and in the best interest of our clients.

First Care Medical’s staff are bound by the Code of Conduct for Unregistered Health Practitioners.

Should you believe that the complaint is of a very serious nature, or do not feel confident approaching us in the first instance, you are able to refer your complaint to the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner.

First Care Medical are always on the lookout for the right staff to fit our organisation, however we do not currently have any positions available at any clinical level.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no instant answer to this question. At First Care Medical we provide individual quotes to all potential clients. We offer the best possible service for a realistic price. We understand that event managers have budget constraints. Our quotation reflects the type of event, the medical risk, likelihood of injury/illness, supplies needed and staffing. We are sure that you understand that we need to pay reasonable wages to attract the best staff, pay for medical insurance, equipment, superannuation etc.

We always try to keep costs to a workable minimum for such groups. Please contact us for a quote.

All our staff display their respective qualifications on our uniforms. The following is a table of qualifications:

Communications Officer – Certificate IV in Ambulance Communications (Dispatch) or equivalent, in addition to experience in emergency services co-ordination & dispatch. Utilised when an event is large enough to require an Event Operations Centre for liaison between event management, security, police and medical services.

First Responder – Senior First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation & Defibrillation. First Responders are generally also paramedic, nursing or medical students undertaking tertiary education with a university in South Australia. First Responders are primarily used at large events and always work under the supervision of a Medic or above.

Medic – Certificate IV in Basic Emergency Care or equivalent, with experience in either ambulance or defence force settings.

Nurse – Registered Nurse, with experience and/or qualifications in emergency and Advanced Life Support.

Paramedic - Diploma of Paramedical Science / Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) or equivalent, with experience with either a statutory ambulance service, defence force or mining sector.

Intensive Care Paramedic – Diploma of Paramedical Science / Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) or equivalent, and has completed an Intensive Care Paramedic training course with a recognised statutory ambulance service within Australia.

Doctor – Qualified Medical Officer, registered within Australia. Doctors on our staff have experience in emergency care and aeromedical retrieval.

First Care Medical has invested extensively in medical equipment. You can be assured we have the right equipment to protect your event.

Our inventory includes: Oxygen Resuscitation Kits, Cardiac Defibrillators, Stretchers, Spinal Injury Boards and Collars, 12 Lead ECG Monitors, Blood Glucose Monitors, pulse oximeters and first aid kits.

We also have a range of vehicles utilised for logistics and transport inside events, however we generally do not transport patients to hospital. If a patient requires emergency care enroute to hospital the statuatory ambulance service is utilised.

No, all our staff are paid employees.

Yes. First Care Medical has an extensive insurance policy covering us for medical malpractice, product failure and public liability. Further information is available on request.

No. First Care Medical will generally not transport patients from a venue to the hospital. This is the domain of the State Ambulance Service. If a patient requires hospitalisation we will treat and stabilise on scene and call for ambulance transport. At some high-risk events we may recommend having an ambulance on stand-by.

We recommend you make contact with us at least 2 months before your event. The sooner you contact us the better we can assist you. We will also consider last minute requests, however can not guarantee staff for such requests. Please contact us as soon as possible for a quotation.

We ask for 50% of the quoted fee 7 days prior to the event. The remaining 50% of fee is payable within 14 days of the event finish. For smaller events total fee due within 14 days of event finish. Payable by Cheque, Direct Debit/EFT or Credit Card.

No – the service fee provided by your event covers all medical staffing, treatment and equipment. Patients never receive a bill. Some events factor our service into patrons or participants entry fee.

Yes – First Care Medical can provide services anywhere in Australia

Privacy

First Care Medical’s Privacy Policy and National Privacy laws maintain strict control over Personal Health Information. This ensures that any information of a personal nature is not released or available for any purpose other than in carrying out our professional first aid and medical services.

We may relay information (verbal and written) to other medical staff who will be taking over your care eg: Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, as part of our professional obligations and in the interest of continuity of care.

First Care Medical will also record some personal information such as name, date of birth, residential address for identification purposes.

First Care Medical secures your personal information in a manner that is not available to any members of the public, and all documentation is safely and securely stored – preventing access by any person other than authorised personnel.

You can request personal information that is held by First Care Medical, including patient care records, account information, any other data which identifies you as an individual.

We take every step to ensure appropriate management of your information, and for this reason – requests will only be considered in writing, and after appropriate identification is provided.
